Sounds like leave it as is then and return the Delco kit.
I do have a small issue which is the timing jumps around by about 2 deg when in base timing mode. So hard to set exactly. It sounds like possibly distributor bushing? Timing chain is good. Is bushing a replaceable part and anyone have a...
I bought a Delco EST ignition conversion kit (Sierra) thinking my TB V module was bad. Then found out it was mechanical issue and TB V seems to be working.
Question I have now is, is the Delco EST an upgrade? Or just keep the TB V installed? I can still return the one I bought. Or I could...
170 deg, no higher. Shut down within a couple seconds of alarm. Ran today wide open fantastic with new water pump impeller and no temp issues. Mid 90s air temp too. But yeah, going to order a new thermostat just because I have no idea of how old current one is.
Tested oil pressure sender vs mechanical guage, it was sending 20 psi below my gauge. So didn't lose pressure, it just went below 20 and looked like 0.
Water pump impeller was torn too which prob contributed to overheat. No pieces came off luckily. So I think, fingers crossed, that I am good to go.
Check plug gap, several a little too much gap, regapped. Number 8 plug tip (which I had dropped in the bilge yesterday) had basically no gap. Regapped. Hit 4200 rpm at about 28-30. Still too slower than it should be but I also have a broken anticavitation plate on outdrive lower unit, so maybe...
That's interesting but it sits level at the factory waterline, bottom paint 3-5 in above water with 3 people and 100 gal of fuel/ water on board. So I really don't think weighed down.
3800 rpm at 26mph WOT, so WAY better, but something is still off. Ive got coN pression close to 150 across the board. This is with 2 adults, 2 toddlers, 40 gals water and 60 gal fuel. 21 p new prop vs 23 p stock spec. Should be 4200-4600 and near 40 mph.
i have the delco EST ignition kit from...
Thanks, I'll listen for tapping. Having pulled the exhaust elbows and valve covers about 10 times in the last couple weeks, I can do it in about 10 minutes now. So no big deal if I have to dial in a bit.
My ignition would do this sometimes, I put in new ignition switch and cleaned all wire connections with a rotary tool. Also make sure to clean the contacts on both sides of the ignition fuse. Don't forget to clean at the starter junction too.
Mine hasn't done it since.
Overnight adjustable rocker stud conversion and nuts from Jeggs came in today. Just installed. Has never run so smooth. Purring and not a vibe.
Went zero lash plus a quarter with irregular thread lock nuts.
Too late to leave the slip so heading home and water test tomorrow.
Dropped a spark...
Update - back out here early.
Focused on a bad cylinder (5) where I could easily pull lifters with a magnet. Interestingly I had good compression on this cylinder at before I started adjust valves the other day. Then it dropped off to 0 after adjustments.
- 0 compression
- loosened intake valve...
Thinking more about the cam timing being off, it would be off the same for all cylinders right? So if one intake valve not closing, none would be? I have no issues with several cylinders, so I don't think that is causing this.
