I have a 454 that supposedly is supposed to run RH? THe boat sat for along time before given to me to try and get running. It is a replacement engine that looks like someone used alot of auto parts on. So far I am trying to see if the motor runs and then get the boat to safe marine operating...
SO I have a holley 4150 on a 454 just rebuilt the whole carb because when got the boat you could see where gas had been leaking on to the intake manifold. Engine wont start and getting white smoke out of the top of the carb along with some fuel? Also the rod for the butterflys is leaking fuel...
So I am trying to pull the harmonic balancer and was going to use a breaker bar but after reading a bit it sounds like an impact is the way to go. My question is if my engine is reverse rotation would the center bolt on the balancer need to spin the opposite way of engine rotation to come off...
I have tried doing ignition timing to no avail and now I would like to pull off the timing cover and make sure everything is timed properly in the engine. I was wondering if any one has done this and what would be the best way to go about it once I get in there?
