    Problem finding year, serial, and model

    My registration says I own a 1986 25 HP Merc Serial A944699. I can't find this number anywhere on the motor. The little metal plate has been rubbed down? I have been to maxrules and can't find it. Can someone assist me. Any information on the outboard would be great.
