I have a 1983 evinrude 70hp vro when I turn the key the starter turns but doesnt rise the gear to turn the motor over. Not sure what to check first. I took the starter off and checked the brushes they looked good I think. The silenoid makes a buzzing sound . Need all the help I could get thanz:(

Just installed a new rectifier and I think it is now charging I thought that the tach not working was because the rectifier was not installed put it in and no dice. I hope some one has an idea. Is there a test I can do to check if the battery is really charging all I did was hook up my volt...

i think i solved the mystery 1 pic i found on the web just to the left of the terminal block there some thing that looks like the pic in the book
in the 2 pic you can see it is not there

I may have hooked the cables up wrong one. Ive seen other post about something called a RECTIFIER cant seem to locate it on my motor. Is it possably my motor dosnt have 1
