    Trying to date year of 6hp merc motor ?

    I recently purchased a used mercury motor and I'm trying to find the age of the motor. The motor is 6hp twin. The decals are red and silver. The serial number is 2290118 If anyone can tell me the year I would greatly appreciate it.
