Thanks all...man, I'm wondering if I just need to take a loss and get a different boat lol! I wasn't expecting this. I'm hoping to buy a prop 3 blade 17" prop next season...I've run out of time this year.
Will a stainless steel prop perform better out of the hole (3 blade 17") than aluminum...
Thanks for that link!!
So I plugged in 19 pitch, 1.62 ration, 4650rpms, 41mph. it says 20.61% slip. Seems high.
I got the numbers for pitch and ratio off the boat, using vessel view for rpms and mph.
Related or unrelated side note, I've got a 3036-6 shift anticipate switch error, it was...
Thanks for the suggestion. What would be your best guess as max mph if you have one? Currently, 4650ish rpms @ 41mph, or 40mph .
Also, I mentioned the foil and smart tabs due to the fact that his boat loves to aim at the sky. If you got 4 people in the boat, you need all 4 up front to...
As the title indicates, just barely broke in (21.9 hours) and it is having trouble getting me out of the water. 3 people on board, 2 x 160lbs, 1 190lbs. That's 510lbs worth of people, probably 200lbs additional gear/skis/cooler, etc.
The boat has a wakeboard tower, rated for 8 people, 1340lbs...
Oh my gosh y'all, there has been an update, and I failed to post. I'm sorry for that.
The boat has been repaired and my father has been using it. I think he got it finished in september.
We're going to Lake Quichita in Arkansas next week (5/27 week). Hopefully it is going to run for a...
I do not know the specs of the ring gaps and all that. He had my dad run double the oil , varying speeds, loads, etc. I don't know all those details, as my father is 2.5 hours away, but I can assure you he did whatever the man told him to do.
I know the water pump is/was good. He should have...
my father is dealing with him. He took the boat back to the guy to have him look at it...should be under warranty. Just wondering what excuses this guy might come up with.
For all I know, he's going to make it right and all that, I just don't know how he can. Full refund would be in order...
This guy is/ was a reputable boat repair guy. I don't recall him telling my dad what caused the initial fail. He supposedly rebuilt from 0, so any issues causing this should have been addressed, ie thermostat, clogged water jackets, etc
so, Motor rebuilt... right at 6 hours (during break in period), my father was following all break in procedures diligently. Lost power on the way back to leave lake...# 2 cylinder is worse looking than # 1 ever was. Looks like it will need another rebuild, which probably isn't possible since...
Thanks Nordin and all. yeah, it is/was a tough call with a lot of deliberation. I'd say that assuming this guy does a good job, I think it will be money well spent (not investment wise). We used to go to the lake nearly every weekend during the summer from 1981 till about 1993 or 1994. We...
And if this was the end of this summer season, would be less likely to pay someone, maybe more likely to attempt ourselves. Boat has already been down for over 1 year.
My father is 2.5 hours away from me, he has an RV park and 25acres of land. He can work 80+ hours a week and not get...
thanks for your inputs. Trust me, it was a debate. Time is so short in more ways than one as we all know.
$3840 of that is labor. labor rate $120/hour. 32 hours I guess. That sounds about right. Guessing it would take me 3x that. What do you say about 32 hours?
He entertained...
