Pulled risers on both sides
Rust in water ports, no rust in exhaust ports
There was a chunk of rubber on 1 side, looks like gasket maker, not impeller. enough to clog the port
The other side was free from impediments, but I did knock some rust away with a screwdriver
Got it...
Another update
Cleaned up the thermostat housing as good as possible. Also pulled raw water pump and cleaned it up.
Put it all back together, fired engine. Water shot from an exhaust outlet from the tstat housing. I forgot to put the hose back on one side. But great though, plenty of water...
Just an update.
Pulled tstat housing... ports are pretty wide throughout, but still dug around as much as possible, didnt find any impeller pieces.
Have it soaking in some rust removal stuff right now... maybe something is stuck in there where I cant get to and hoping loosening any rust might...
Pulled impeller, it looks okay, although I don't know exactly what to look for short of missing rubber. Rubber was all there though, no missing chunks or anything.
So I tried again with the garden hose jammed directly into the hose from transmission cooler to water pickup. Garden hose only on...
You seem like you know what you're talking about, ill trust your advice. But I still cannot understand the difference between the method I'm describing and how a fake a lake operates... unless I'm watching people use fake a lake the wrong way.
Out of curiosity, the other method I have seen to...
I think I'm doing a bad job at describing the bucket method
Fake a lake placed on water pickup outside boat, garden hose keeps plunger basin filled with water for engine
I take hose off of water pickup inside boat, put it in a bucket, garden hose fills bucket with water
Other than the...
I'm not understanding
I'm no where near a boat expert, but this is the method many use for starting an inboard on land.
Something draws that water from the bucket, if not the raw water pump, then what?
And in the water, the raw water inlet is on the bottom of the boat, probably feet below where...
I take the hose that goes to the raw water pump, put that end in a bucket, then put the garden hose in the bucket, hose fills bucket and engine draws water from bucket.
If circulation pump failed completely, would the raw water pump still push water?
I'll have to research what that circulation pump does. Circulates, I guess. But with only 1 hose off of it I am curious about the flow
Still also curious what mechanism is failing here to cause this intermittent pumping
From looking at it with advised eyes now, seems like if the circulation...
Which ones which
Raw water pump = analogous to car water pump and circulation pump is the other with impeller?
How deep should I go for those missing chunks? Impeller housing, water pump, tstat housing? I can't see anything getting stuck in hose and if they made it into engine I'd assume its a...
