Old and new lower end oil(comparison)

Here's the oil that came with it, and the first change oil (after running it in a barrel post ignition rebuild)...the initial oil drain was way low, as well as 'milkshakey'. The first change out was less milky, but settled out after a week. I've decided to run it a few times and see just...

    Trouble removing lower end housing

I'm attempting to change the impeller on my 1956 10 hp Johnson. I removed the access door, and removed the lower bolt on the driveshaft. I removed the 5 bolts reqrd to remove the lower end. It only drops down about 3/4", then won't go any further. I don't want to force it...am I doing something...

    Short shaft or long shaft?

I'm dickering over price for an 18' fishing toon (motorless)...plan on selling the 16' aluminum boat. I've got a 10 hp 1956 Johnson shortshaft I'm fixing up, and wonder if this will work on this toon? I know it's on the low end HP-wise, but I'm just going to be puttering in the mountain lakes...

    '56 10hp ignition rebuild-no spark

After rebuilding my ignition (points, coils, condensers, SP wires) I have no spark in my lower piston wire. The only thing I can think of...it was too long, and I thought I could untwist the SP boot where it attaches to the SP wire. Didn't want to come off, so I left it long. Did I SKWEW up...

    Attaching SP wire to coil

Coil has a fine wood screw looking thing to attach the spark plug wire. Do I jsut screw the wire onto/into the screw? The old coils sort of exploded in antique mist when I removed them...and it seems the original attach method isn't same as current. BTW, whoever designed the spark plug wire...

    1956 Johnson 10HP Seahorse

New to this forum, as well as vintage outboards...I think I got the bug. I bought this motor for $235 today (will go on a 1950's 16' aluminum fishing boat to be used in the Sierras) It is in REALLY good shape cosmetically, and the seller was able to get it running. But after a while, it would...
