    Repower 225 Hp, Optimax Vs Etec

    I need to repower my 24' Proline. Has a 225 hp Mariner on it now. Must go 2 stroke because of weight limitations. Looking at a 225hp Mercury Optimax of a 225HP Evinrude E-Tec. Any thoughts?

    Engine will not run over 2500 RPM. Starts fine. idles fine and goes into gear fine but as you accelerate it makes it to about 2500 RPM and won't go any higher?

    1990 25 HP EVINRUDE IDLE PROBLEM

    I can't get it to idle smoothly. I rebuilt the carb, Have adjusted the low speed idle many times. If you give it a little throttle it smooths right out. I am wondering if it could be the ethanol gas?

    1990 25HP Evinrude idling problem

    Engine won't idle. I rebuilt the carb and it did not make a difference. Could it be the new ethanol gas? Idled fine last season.
