    Does the air flow filter on a 1986 40 hp evinrude need replaced periodically and if so, where can I get one?

    Grinding in reverse

    I recently changed my cable for reverse control for my 1986 40 hp Evinrude motor. Now when I try to put into reverse it grinds at the control and engine. When I shift into reverse the cable engages and appears to shift correctly.
