    I have been reading around the web and i have seen several spec sheets for what motor oil to use with my Merc 140. None have dates on them. I will have the boat in 50 degree to 95 degree weather. should i still use a 30w or 40w?

    rpm gage problem

    i have a 21' reinell with a mercruiser 140. outdrive is a alpha R drive. i assume they are both 1981 sense the boat is a 1981. i think my RPM gage is wrong, when idle it reads 200 rpm and in and out of gear. at WOT it wont go over 1500 rpm. the boat has good take off and moves at about 28 mph...

    water from outdrive

    i have a pre alpha out drive with a merc 140. i had the muffs on today and noticed water coming from the shifter. where the lower unit and upper unit meet. it looks like its coming from the upper unit. any ideas where it might be from?

    another shift problem

    i have a merc 140. the shift interrupter switch should kill the engine for a split second. that i do know. i have it sent with a volt meter when i move the v shaped plastic manually. i have had luck in the past doing it that way. my problem is when i use the lever to put it in gear it wont move...
