does anybody have a cross reference number for the oil filter.the nearest merc dealer is over fifty miles away from where i live,but there is a napa about two miles away.THANKS

i have a 2003 merc 9.9 4 stroke.it trolls to fast,i do not want to lower the idle rpm's i'm afraid of effecting the oil pressure.i don't want to change the prop.the one on it is just right for all other purposes.my problem is that my boat is light in weight.is it safe to use a trolling plate or...
i have a new 9.9 merc 4 stroke on a 12' alumacraft john boat,with a 3x9x9 stock prop.it tops out at about 20 gps mph.the merc prop finder suggest a 11.5 pitch.i think that the motor is under proped now.there is a rev limiter on the merc.i don't know how the motor repsonds when the rev limiter...
what would it take to convert a 9.9 4 stroke to 15 hp.i know that it takes more than it's worth on a 2 stroke.but what are the differences on the 4 stroke.<br />thanks

what is a 1988 15 hp yamaha manual start motor low to medium hours worth.a friend of mines father passed away and it is going to be in an estate sale.my friend told me to make him a offer.neither one of us know the value.but the motor is in great shape his father took good care of everything he had.
i bought a merc 9.8 ,the man said it was a 73 model.bought a manual covers 72 through 89. found out the 9.8 is realy a 70 model. does anybody know the major differences between 70 and 72.my concerns are with the timing and ignition.<br /> thanks steve
on my 9.8 to put it in forward you have to push the gear lever to the rear of the motor.and for reverse you pull it to the front.is this normal, every other outboard that i have hae the opposite was the rule.
