    1996 4.3 Wiring Diagram?

Re: 1996 4.3 Wiring Diagram? If it doesn't run at all, it's probably a problem with the oil pressure switch that is in line with the pump. It's designed to turn off the pump when there is no oil pressure. Here is a generic diagram:

    Camshaft choice for 4.3l Vortec

Over the winter I'm going to rebuild and build up a 1997 4.3l Vortec motor to replace my existing older non-vortec engine that I put in last year. It ran great all year, but lacks the oomph of the original motor, which was cracked. For the $500 I spent putting it together, I can sell it and...

Eagle River / Three Lakes Chain in WI

Billed as the longest chain of lakes in the world, this is where I spent my family vacation for the past 2 years. Last year I just had my fishing boat, and while it did the job, the trip was the motivation to get a bigger / faster boat for water sports. This year, I had my 20' Sea Ray, and...

LED STRIP LIGHTING (Ins and outs info)

Re: LED STRIP LIGHTING (Ins and outs info) Back on interior lighting topic - I thought I would throw up some pictures of what I'm using. These are single color LED's in pre-made lengths. I've used them in my car (trunk lighting) before, and they work great. They are completely flexible...

Replacing manifolds - 45 degree fitting on riser - Cheap replacement?

I'm replacing the manifolds and risers on my Mercruiser 4.3l engine (1988 Sea Ray Seville 20'), and realized they didn't include the fittings for hooking up the water hoses. The bottom is no problem - Sierra makes a nice drain & 90 fitting to go in there for $7.xx each. Looks like a good idea...

Rebuild advice needed - Chevy / Mercruiser 4.3l

You can read about the saga that started all of this over here: http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=520824 Short story: Old original 1988 block cracked - got a replacement 1992 4.3l truck engine to rebuild into a boat engine. Starting a new thread over here to discuss a specific...

4.3l Block Crack - repair or replace? [Decided to Replace - Adventures begin]

Bought this boat in July, and had it out a few times this summer, and it runs pretty good. However, not knowing much history, now that the boating season is over, I wanted to pull the engine for a winter refresh project. At least one exhaust manifold has a crack, and it didn't idle the best...

Replacement exhaust manifolds - OEM, Aftermarket, or ???

I have a crack in one of my 1988 4.3l exhaust manifolds. No idea on the inside, but it weeps water outside. Looking for advice on replacement brands. I see there are a few, including Aluminum ones. It doesn't seem that the Mercruiser 99746A17 manifolds are all that much more than...

Destruction thread - the end of my parts boat - 1989 Sea Ray 20'

I hope this thread will be well recieved here - if not, one of the moderators can feel free to move it to an appropriate place. I thought with all the reconstruction that goes on here, you might be interested in some deconstruction pictures. This all started a few weeks back, and is about 85%...

First Post: My adventure in boating. 1988 Sea Ray Seville 200 from the beginning

Re: First Post: My adventure in boating. 1988 Sea Ray Seville 200 from the beginn Thanks for the tip! I was thinking about buying some Smart Tabs anyway, so this gives me even more motivation. With that big swim deck off each side of the back, they certainly won't get in the way of...

I wonder why the engine seized?

Finally got around to pulling the engine out of my "parts boat", which I was told had a seized engine. Thought everyone would get a kick out of this... In addition to that, there were a couple rods with spun or simply missing bearings (lots of pieces in the oil pan). Anybody need some...

20' Sea Ray - Prop Suggestions

    1) Performance issue you are trying to correct. First time out with the new (to me) boat, with a new prop (which will now be a good spare I guess), my RPM's were getting too high. The prop that came with the boat was pretty badly chewed up, and I didn't want to use it. 2) Current prop...

Re: First Post: My adventure in boating. 1988 Sea Ray Seville 200 from the beginn Had a few hours after work again, and got the dash replaced. Here are some pictures of the old and new gauge cluster, along with the new boat on the trailer. As you can see, the old gauge cluster was in...

Re: First Post: My adventure in boating. 1988 Sea Ray Seville 200 from the beginn Here are the last few: All in all, everything went PERFECT in getting it off the trailer. I was REALLY nervous about doing it, but it all went off without a hitch.
