i swapped the t-stat for a new one. I ran the engine to 5K, It ran fine. no overheat. I tested the old T stat in hot water, It opened up and worked fine. This weekend i will run full throttle, Maybe there was a clog in the cooling system that is now disloged
no gauges, only the alarm. I am thinking that the thermostat is only partially opening, causing the alarm at high speed. I will replace with a new Yamaha t-stat and see if that fixes the alarm problem,
I bought this engine new. sits on a 2117 19 foot Hurricane deck boat. I have changed the impeller and housing twice. The engine only has 203 hours on it. Last impeller change was May 2022. I put the boat in the lake, fresh water use only, last week, and started it up. No problems. Pee hole was...
Battery died , recharged, now 12.95 volts, Reinstalled battery, all gauges and trim and tilt work. On trying to start, battery makes a clicking sound. No started engagement. Ideas?
Sullmate
replaced the water pump in both engines. No alarm. Engine suffered a salt water leak in the powerhead the sprayed the engine with salt water. This caused many electrical parts to corrode. Engine was tested in a test tank. No alarm. Can't water test till spring. COLD here in Ct.
Update. total estimate w/ tax $K. Includes New Stator / pulser coil base assembly New oil pump for the port engine. New balancer assemblies for both engines. O rings, crankcase seals and new anodes. Parts,( All Yamaha) total $2418. Labor, 11 hours $1430. ($130 per hour) Work is done off season...
The computer spit out a code for another sensor that has to be replaced. The mechanic said the stator and rectifier must also be replaced due to excessive corrosion. The engine (2006) has always been used in salt water in the northeast. I have not received the total bill estimate. Bummer!
Update. The Yamaha mechanic says it is definately another sensor besides the overheat sensor that I replaced. Not sure what sensor or where it is. I will continue to update when the mechanic does the work.
its a steady beeeeeeeep. Engine cuts back to a slower speed. Turn off engine restart no beep. No beep at all until boat is driven a while at higher rpm. Engine does not run hot.
is there a water pressure sensor. ??
My 24 ft. Regulator has 2 engines. Both 2006, 870 hours. All salt water use. The port engine overheat alarm goes off at 5-5600 rpm. I have replaced the impeller, thermostat and overheat sensor. No change. Is there a water pressure sensor on this engine? THE ENGINE IS NOT OVERHEATING. Runs at...
Yamaha -2006- 150 hp 4 stroke. (850hours). Engine starts fine, pee hole shows a steady stream. Water pump impeller is less that two years old. When engine hits around 3800 rpm. the Alarm sounds ( steady beep). Stop, walt 15 seconds restart the engine, runs fine, no overheat signal the rest of...
update. The welder patched up the hole in the engine block. It now works well. Cost $300 for the weld. Some parts on the outside of the engine block were replaced as well, due to the salt water that was sprayed when the leak developed.
Thanks for all input. I am having the boat trailered to a local airport for a welder, who welds aluminum on airplanes. Charge for the weld is $300. I am going to give it a try. Will let you all know how it goes.
Also, corrosion is also a factor as the boat is used in salt water. Still an odd...
