i swapped the t-stat for a new one. I ran the engine to 5K, It ran fine. no overheat. I tested the old T stat in hot water, It opened up and worked fine. This weekend i will run full throttle, Maybe there was a clog in the cooling system that is now disloged

    2017 Yamaha 150 hp - 4 stroke warning alarm

no gauges, only the alarm. I am thinking that the thermostat is only partially opening, causing the alarm at high speed. I will replace with a new Yamaha t-stat and see if that fixes the alarm problem,

over heat alarm 150 hp Yamaha 4 stroke 2006

The computer spit out a code for another sensor that has to be replaced. The mechanic said the stator and rectifier must also be replaced due to excessive corrosion. The engine (2006) has always been used in salt water in the northeast. I have not received the total bill estimate. Bummer!

    Yamaha 150 hp - 4 stroke - 2009

update. The welder patched up the hole in the engine block. It now works well. Cost $300 for the weld. Some parts on the outside of the engine block were replaced as well, due to the salt water that was sprayed when the leak developed.

    Yamaha 150 hp - 4 stroke - 2009

Thanks for all input. I am having the boat trailered to a local airport for a welder, who welds aluminum on airplanes. Charge for the weld is $300. I am going to give it a try. Will let you all know how it goes. Also, corrosion is also a factor as the boat is used in salt water. Still an odd...
