I don't claim to be the sharpest pencil on motors but my motor has been starting real hard since mechanic putzed with it. I pulled cover off and looked at plugs - all four and it said L78V champions but no gaps things like I am used to seeing like on lawm mower - just flat at the end - confused...
I looked in two places and one said I have a 1969 motor ( mercury) and other said 1978 - serial number 4834119 from grease fitting below head cover . cover says thunderbolt ignition - 800 - 80 horse power mercury. Inside says 1978 with band off - may 10 I think - any help needed.
