    put lower unit back together after putting new ay bearing in and new inpleller. now when i shift gears back and forth they work fine but when i leave it in forward or reverse and spin prop manually than go back to handle gear shift it won't go into reverse.than i can manually turn prop again...

    sorry guys the motor is a 1985 johnson 25 longshaft model cj25rcos. tried to put back together but had a hard time lining up waterspout than when i had it lined up would'nt slide together leaving a gap of about quarter inch so ibolted together pulling it up tight hoping the water spout went in...

    trying to put lu back together. got lu about a quarter inche from completely together but would'nt go all the way.had a hell of a time lining up water spout got it this close and in front of water spout than just threaded everything back together hoping spout was pulled in.when i move gears back...

    carburator and gas lines

    put new carbuator kit in 1985 25hp .when i had gas line disconected i squeezed some gas through line to check flow and notice black bits in with gas.i think this is gas lines particals .should i replace all my gas lines

    waterpump kit

    putting new gasket on waterpump it's paper and wondering if this should be rubber . if paper is fine do i need to apply a gasket sealer or apply dry.thank.

    i have a 1985 25hp jonhson and am getting some water in the oil of the lowerunit.wondering what seals to replace and where they are because i already have lowerunit apart replacing inpleller and is there anything else i should take care of at this point.thanks
