    Update. Thanks to the advice from this group, it’s done! Rebuilt the engine.030 over, new exhaust manifolds and all. It sounds good.

    The 63 Impala SS has a pretty stock 327,but the T Bucket has a few more tricks. They’re our winter toys here in AZ when we can’t be on the water.

    Well, I took some measurements and whipped up a crude C frame that I think will do the trick. It tested well on a junk engine in the shop. Now to see about getting a buddy with a crane over here, or look at renting a large forklift.

    Thank you guys for all the input. Yah, I’m really trying not to cut and fiberglass the area as it has reinforcing boards on the inside that are glassed and the outside is round and formed nicely. That C frame device method looks promising!

    This is the view from above. I removed as much stuff as possible and pulled out the battery and stern hydraulic unit to make room to come forward.

    On my 2006 Tahoe 222 deck boat, I need to pull the 5.7 Mercruiser, but it is housed down and into the hull, almost like they built the top half of the boat after engine installation. It needs to come forward then up and forward some more. I'm thinking about a counterweighted beam to reach in...
