I thought I'd start a new thread to ask these questions. I need to know which cylinder is cylinder number 1 and I need to know how to set the timing. I have 2 arrows with the letter t next to them, one on the cam and one on the flywheel. and I'm not sure where they are supposed to point. Thank...
I'm trying to figure out how to set timing now because it has to be out... it backfires no matter what rpm. I did have it reved up a little to make the backfiring more noticeable for the video!!
So I have the boat running now, but it's backfiring through the carbs. It idles fine but if I give it any throttle it backfires and tries to die or does die.. I'm trying to upload a video to help
Found this laying loose under the hood. Not sure where it goes or what it does. Also looks like the starter solenoid is bad because if I arc across it with a screw driver the motor turns over.
No signal at the solenoid
I found a 30 amp fuse that was bad but still nothing at the starter, looking at the neutral safety switch and starter solenoid noe
Hello again, I've have tremendous luck with my boats when asking for help so thank you!!
What I have is a 1998 honda 75 hp on a tritoon. The engine had a knock, However I installed a new long block and hooked everything up that I can see but when I turn the key on nothing happens. I have a...
Hello all, this boat is stored at a marina and has always worked properly, today the motor wouldn't trim up or down. I can hear a faint clicking when I push the button but thats it motor doesn't make any noise or move. Any help would be appreciated!
I was thinking that exact thing. Not sure how hard replacement parts will be to find on a motor thats 50 years old!! It runs fine just thought the 1989 would have better technology and less wear!
Mostly I was wanting to know if either one had weaknesses over the other. Both motors run great! The 72 is electric and rope start. The 89 is rope only. I can do the maintenance on either engine, however I dont know a lot about either engine because I was born in 89 lol. Just didn't know if...
I have what I think is a 89 evinrude 20 hp, and a 72 Johnson seahorse 25.
My question is this. If you were only going to keep one motor which motor would it be and why?
I'm using a 1460 semi v bottom fishing boat and just want the most dependable engine on the boat... I plan on duck hunting...
I agree. I am putting in at the same marina on a deep lake. Its in flood zone usually 20 feet deep its almost 30. I haven't hit anything in the water. Both props are in perfect condition minus the spun hub with melted rubber..... I was thinking cheap quality rubber hub?
