    Help! Where is Steering Pump Res. 1977 Merc 888

    Well, I got her on the lake and all seems fine.....until I give it some throttle. In the no wake zone she steers fine but once I throttle up it is stiff and wont turn to the right (I assume from the torque). Is there p/s fluid that I need to fill?

    Ok, last thing to do on this boat. After all my projects were done, ran the engine on muffs. Everything seems good but when shifting to forward or reverse from neutral, it grinds into gear. Works good once in gear but the grinding can't be normal is it?

    2-4-c or 80/90 for water pump

    Quick question. When replacing water pump in my Merc 888, where it says to use 2-4-c on seals and pump housing, splines, ect. is that all you can use or can you use the 80/90 gear oil that I will be using in drive? Disassembling now and need to know before stores close.

    1977 merc 188hp fuel issue

    This boat has been in storage 7 years. Have done all my preliminaries and went to start it but don't seem to get fuel in carb. Do I need to prime? Fuel/water separator? pump? Maybe battery went down before I cranked it enough. Any ideas? Thanks!
