Nope there something that makes the engine rapid miss ie shudder to alert operator to issue. For sure this happens when engine overheats but it also happens ,like today,when I tried to start it cold while in a weed soup. It started but immediately went to shudder mode.no time to overheat.
My 20 hp is very sensitive to weed around water pump pickup. Starts shuddering immediatly on contacting kelp. No complaint there but Id like to know how it does this.
