To update this thread I have gotten the motor back in and running good. Just need to put lower unit on but the heat here in texas is no fun to work in. Thanks to everyone's help!
I've been wondering the same question myself. Sitting for 6 months, condensation, I'm not sure. The valley above the cam looks clean. Head gaskets looked fine but I didn't thoroughly inspect, just a glance at them.
At this point I'm pretty much just reusing the heads, intake, carb...
Thanks. I haven't moved the lifters yet. Gonna pull them keeping them in order and in same orientation (towards center line of block). Clean cam as u stated and check for pitting.
I'll be pulling the cam this weekend. Post pics when I do.
