    Flywheel housing installation

    We installed the flywheel housing on a new engine (housing and all other parts from a mercuriser1987 305 230 model alpha one). We were surprised that the dowel pins don't locate the housing at all, there is about an 1/16" gap. Is this nothing to worry about or is there special tools to line it...

    Re: 1986 Mercruiser 305 optimum temperature This is what both valve cover caps look like, and the breather hose was plugged this the same stuff. We run the boat 2-3 hours at a time. I pulled a valve cover cap when the engine was running once, and steam was coming out pretty good.
