Had noise coming from drive.
Just changed UJ`s and gimbal bearing.
Almost got it assembled but appears shaft can`t fit all the way through the gimbal bearing. Got the bearing from a merc dealer so assummed it was the right one.
Now to make matter worse have got the shaft stuck in the bearing...

The current cable has seized and would like to change it.
I'm OK removing the top end, how to I get the bottom end?

I have recently acquired a mercruiser 165 from 1975.
It has fairly new riser and manifold by the looks of it.
First time I ran it on bellows it ran fine once I got it going. On completion the oil also looked fine.
