Well, its not milky or frothy anymore...but surprising dark.
No separation into layers in the jars I set aside. I expected that if there was a problem there would be a tiny layer of water at the bottom
That's good to know. I thought it would of had to be significantly more.
But what are you getting it? That it was just a little condensation or that I may have a slow water leak?
Well, it's a really subtle change that doesn't show up well(or at all) in the pics but its definitely better than the original chocolate milk pic.
I think Bt Doctur was right about it just being a lot of condensation.
Left is the first oil drain. Right is the last.
I hope it doesn't come to that. I'm figuring everything out with the help of people here but I'm definitely in over my head lol
I drained the fresh oil after letting it run for an hour from the oil pan. Now I'm gonna run some more fresh oil through it and drain....and then do it again...
Ok. I did that and decided to pump some oil out to see.
It looks as bad as the first time. Dark chocolate milk.
Any other suggestions?
Things I can do or check?
Ok, so it looks like I'm most likely screwed but maybe someone has a little insight.
Boats been sittin' 4 years (winterized).
I tried pumping oil before getting engine started a month ago but it was cold and too thick so I decided to wait until I got the engine hot. The oil looked normal but I...
I'm about to do the same job tomorrow.
I'm confused by your post. Is 26-96503 the right part for the gen 1?
Also, the gen 1 installs from the bottom, right? And I'm seeing conflicting opinions online. Some are saying the spring should face down. Others are saying it should face up. Any ideas?
I will provide the specific information about the drive and the rest on Friday when I'm back at the boat.
Thank you. I'll provide all the information then. I appreciate your help
This is all great information. Thanks for taking the time. I pumped all 25 gallons of old gas out and put in 10 new. Plus added new fuel into the new fuel filter.
I'll definitely look into the 'distributor tool' to prime the oil pump (I'm completely clueless there). I know oil levels were good...
I don't know boats/engines/sterndrives so tell me if I'm an idiot or if this is possible please.
So, i incorrectly installed my lower unit. The gears are not aligned properly so the prop is clicking both ways when turned by hand. Anyway I tried to start the boat for the first time since fall...
Thank you! That definitely saved me some time and money which I don't have. I'll get everything aligned properly before trying to start it but in the meantime hopefully someone has answers on why I had combustion and now I don't.
Uncle gave me 1990Searay. Mercruiser 5.0 V8.
it was sitting winterized since fall 2017. I dont know boats. Got my info from here and YouTube (thank you everyone! ).
I pulled the lower unit. New impeller, seals, and gear fluid. After reinstalling the lower unit when I went to move the throttle it...
