What happened to Searay?

I have been searching the web to find the phone number of Searay and they have removed it from their website. Octane content

I have noticed a consistant recommendation, for 2 stroke engines, of good oil and 87 octane gas. The oil is a given but I was wondering if a higher octane might make a difference. Such as better low rpm running, faster hole shots, etc....

Any evidence? or opinions

    1990 Johnson 88 hp SPL

I am looking at buying a 15ft runabout with a 1990 Johnson 88 hp SPL. I am interested in Skiing and general boating. The motor appears to be in good shape. It does have a few bumps and scrapes on the bottom of the lower unit. Was the 88 SPL a reliable motor? Can it pull larger skiers? Will...
