    Bought an 1987 Alumacraft Phantom v170 and the steering wheel is locked up, am able to move the steering cable in and out of the tilt tube but still locked up, think might be a bad gear box? bad cable? Would like some thoughts on it and if anyone can help.

    Just got the 90hp recently and it is on a pallet, and would be switching onto the boat instead of the 110 as the 110 will need some work and opener is soon. So would be needing a stand for one at the minimum.

    Bought Boat and Steering is locked up

    Would absolutely love some pics, also dont have room to take cable out of tilt tube without taking motor off. Although, have unscrewed it, a little stiff but does move freely when not on tight.

    Steering Wheel is stiff and wont move besides slightly, I undid steering bar on motor and the motor moves freely, Think i need to take apart the steering gearbox or think i need to replace the cable?

    I don't believe they match up completely but still think will be able to use, thank you, haven't found an 87 but did find a 86 diagram.
