    1989 50 hp Johnson shuts off at idle but runs great WOT.

    I can prime the ball and it will idle all day. If i get it out on the lake and run it at WOT and bring it back down to neutral it will sometimes just shut right off and sometimes the rpms will drop to 1,000 then bump up to 1,500 and shut off. I have brand new fuel line, primer ball and filters...

    I need to get my rpms down and my boat had a hydrofoil on it when I bought it. Just wondering if it can raise rpms at WOT?

    First question is will the high rpms cause my volt meter to read 16v? Second question is should I change the 11 3/4 x17 prop to a 11 3/4 x 19 to get the rpms back into range?
