    Set back spacers

    I have a 16'fiberglass flat bottom with a fan tail on the back of the boat. The motor (75hp johnny)is fully surrounded by the tail which eliminates the possibility of a jack plate. Would 2" set back spacers (Bob's Machine shop)give me any benefit?

    Rebuild Break-In Proceedures

    The wrench that rebuilt my Johnny 75hp (1982) said he wanted me to run my motor at a constant 3800 to 4000 rpms until I burn 50 gallons of 25:1 mix. Then bring it back to him for a first service. This seems contrary to what I have read here on this site. Any comments are appreciated. :eek:

    What is the longivity and durability of rebuilding? Most boat owners (that I consulted)agree that engines that have been rebuilt never last over 2 years (diminishing power or break). I would like to here your thoughts before I embark on the rebuilding journey. :confused:

    RPM loss

    I have a recently reringed 1982 75hp Johnny. Approximately 20 hrs of total running time the rpm's are gradually declining. Fresh rings the motor turned 6200 rpms; 15 thru 20 hrs the rpm's are at 5800. Is this normal??? :(
