I have a 470 mercruiser in a 1984 Beretta. Last year I overheated and spent $2k to replace all of the gaskets in the engine (nice paint job on the engine now). Is there a good temp gage out there that will shut down the engine or sound an alarm when it gets too hot?

I changed engine oil on my 1984 470 mercruiser 3.7 and the oil came out milky. I put new oil in and started it for 3 minutes and the oil came out milky again. What are the options and where can I get a rebuilt engine or just the block? I live in Minnesota.
