I am an old hot rodder and have always messed with the timing on my cars; can I do the same with an outboard? My 28SPL calls for 30 degrees and I was wondering it I could give it a little more without damaging it?

Hello to all. I have a 1988 28SPL with no spark. The manual I have doesn?t show the type ignition system I have. It appears to be something called UFI or under flywheel ignition. There is no visible power pack. How do I trouble shoot it and or repair it? I have Googled it and it seems OMC used...
I have a 1988 30 Johnson I would like to add tilt and trim to and read somewhere that the 28 and 30s had the large mount bracket and can use the PT&T unit from the bigger engines. Any body able to confirm this? I can get a used setup from a 70 complete with relays and harness if it will fit...
Is it possible to put a bigger idle jet or circuit in my 1993 6hp? When trolling it doesn't stay warm enoug to run well. I have to run the choke part way out, in warm weather it's fine. Irebuilt the carb last year and that didn't help.
