I just disassembled the gear case and replacing both gears, pinion and clutch dog... How great is the need to reshim the driveshaft or replace seals? If reshimming is a necessity, how is this done without dropping another $300 on a SPECIAL TOOL? Also, I do have new driveshaft housing...
I've got my lower unit disassembled to the point of removing the driveshaft. I see there yet another special tool # 0311875 socket to turn the driveshaft in order to loosen the pinion nut. A few questions..... Does anyone loosened this nut without that tool? I see one guy that swears he has...

I just bought an 84 115 Johnny and have no experience with a VRO motor. What's your opinion? Can you pre-mix the oil/fuel or do you have to use the separate tank? Any other suggestions?
