I recently installed a Motorguide Bulldog 40 lb. thrust trolling motor in a small 'pond prowler' style plastic boat (8' long). The boat weights about 135, and with me+gear about 500.
The trolling motor has 5 speeds. The lowest speed moves the boat faster than I like for trolling crappie jigs...
Has anybody had their valve tappet clearance checked/adjusted for a Johnzuki 4 stroke and know what this cost? Also, were you out of adjustment or otherwise have an issue with it? I have not had this done on my 2004 DF115 (dealer did not do it at 10 hr inspection) and manual suggests biannually...
My owner's manual says I should decarbonize my 2004 4stroke Johnson (115HP) but I'm not sure how to do it, or how to tell if it is truly needed. I don't live near a marine dealer so will have to drive an hour to get a can of whatever is needed. My local autoparts store carries Seafoam though.

I need to splice some 6 ga. wire to 8 ga. wire on my boat. I can't find any Shrink Tube Butt Connectors in this size. I found some regular Vinyl-insulated Butted Seam Barrel Terminals in 6 ga. that would work and I guess I could shrink some of the adhesive-lined shrink tube around it to keep out...
I was drifting down a river and my 115HP 4stroke Johnzuki bumped up against a submerged tree. I was not concerned in the slightest as I've bumped up against stuff plenty of times and this seemed like a gentle bump against something soft (waterlogged tree) so I wasn't concerned in the slightest...
I was snooping under the cover of my 2004 Johnzuki 115HP 4-stroke and noticed a small bit of oil on some wires and plastic parts. It sort of looks like it might be coming from inside the large black plastic box on the forward part of the engine block (see pic). There is a 3 inch hose going in...
I noticed the license plate was missing from my trailer. I think the plastic license plate holder failed. I have ordered another plate from our DMV and wondering about a more secure way of mounting it...?
I've heard of the product but never paid close attention to what it does or if I should be using it. I have a 2004 Johnzuki 115Hp 4-stroke.
Does it go in the gas? :%
I'm wiring in a battery switch and called Johnson to inquire about necessary wire guage. They said #4 should be fine. I ask as the factory wire curerntly hooked to my cranking battery looks much bigger.

I figured I'd need the same guage as they used between the motor and the cranking...
Should I install a ground wire across the negative terminals of my separate starting and house batteries? I think I need it to install a battery switch.

I plan to install this Blue Sea battery switch that will let me connect my house battery to my starting circuit in the event my...
I have a water separating fuel filter on the line to my 2004 Johnson 115 HP 4-stroke. It is not the racor design with the bulb. I change it every season. But I'm wondering what the symptoms are if I happen to get excess water in my line and the fuel filter becomes 'clogged.'

Does it...
My owner's manual has the audacity to say leave the oil filter change up to the dealer...sigh. Maybe I should since I don't know where the filter is at!

Seriously though, I forget which side cover conceals it and if there are any gotchas associated with changing it...?
I'm trying to size some wire for a battery combiner I'd like to install, but have no idea what my alternator output is...? Anybody know? I checked the Johnson site and also my manual, but did not find it.
