    Evinrude 1996 150 starter removal

    Trying to remove a starter from a evinrude 1996 150. Seems to be gear driven and offset. Do I have to remove the flywheel cover or anything else?

    150 Evinrude starter

    I have a 96 150 ocean pro. When starting the starter motor spins however doesnt engage. Sounds like the bendix came apart in there. How hard is it to remove the starter to inspect the problem. Looks like a nightmare to pull the whole flywheel cover just to remove the starter.
