Measure the internal dia of the fuel line 'connector' and that will give you the fuel line bore. Add 2 or 3 mm (either side) for the wall thickness. You will then have the bore and o/d sizes. If no filter in the tank, then add an 'in line' one.........either way, an extra one won't do any harm.

    SPARK PLUG CROSS THREAD

Not actually used that particular tool but checking google, it seems a good way to go. I don't think JPWeld or any other adhesive will be necessary.

    SPARK PLUG CROSS THREAD

A helicoil is by far the best. The more you tighten, the better the grip...... providing you have used the correct size drill for the hole. The only likely problems are metal "shavings" in the cylinder head and when removing the plug for replacement, the helicoil may come out with it. Good luck

Congrats ! They are great little engines but the stud heads tend to break as the engines are quite old and threads very corroded. If that does happen, i find that a couple of days of regular soaking in WD 40, then attach 2 nuts to the remaining part of the thread, tighten one against the...

Eureka ! I fitted, with a bit of difficulty, a 1mm oversize oil seal/slinger and now, no more water spurting out. Thank you everybody for your suggestions, especially 'Faztbullet' without whom, i would still be struggling. Happy Christmas to all.

Thanks for that. I have just purchased J.B Weld steelStik steel reinforced epoxy putty. This sounds very similar to your suggestion and will give it a try. Not too sure how i am going to get a good seal in the 'rounded' groove though............i could purchase an oversized oil seal to get a...

I think you have hit the nail on the head. Having dismantled the housing i found that rubber sleeve (water slinger) is floating about on the lower part of the drive shaft (just above the impeller) ie not firmly fixed in the upper groove of the housing where it should be. This upper groove has...

Hi. No, there is no telltale pipe from theses engines unlike the 2.2 and above. The cooling water comes up the tube, circulates around the engine and comes back down the leg and is forced out of the four exhaust holes. This is all happening as it should but the problem still exists I am sure...

Can't be the pee hole as its facing the wrong way (its the carb end) so you will get a soaking in the boat. Also, i understand that the pee holes are the same holes as the 4 exhaust outlets on the front of the leg ie prop side.

Thanks for your replies. Serial No. 6A1-072315. Mariner 2M. I am pretty sure that the 2.2 Mercury does not have the exhaust guide plate. Pics attached. Hope clear enough. Look forward to your help.

Hi everybody. I am new to this, so hopefully i can get my problem across to you. I have purchased an old Mariner 2 hp engine. I have fitted a new impeller and she runs well with plenty of water coming out of the exhaust holes in the leg. However water is also spurting out from the little...
