The 4.3 4 barrell and the 5.0 2 barrell require different gear ratios....can anyone tell me why ?.....there is only a 15 hp difference and the same WOT....I don't understand ?
Need some technical advice! I have a 2001 25 outlaw and I think I have water coming down through bow rail bolts. My question can I take the bow rail off without taking the cabin ceiling carpet down? Thanks for any help!
Ok so the wife wants a Tiki Hut.....would like to build a 10 X 10 with gable 4 hip roof on cement slab
This would be a movable structure on cement slab....there would not be full walls....only about 3' high
There would be 6X6 posts on the corners and prob 2X8 between the post to carry roof...
Putting a Gen 1 in a boat that did have a gen 2 Alpha one in it.
As you can see the location of the top 2 bolts is different.
Can anyone tell me the best way to plug and seal these 2 bolt holes?
Just picked up donor boat for my project boat (I was in need of 4.3 engine and Alpha One Outdrive)
The alternator was already stolen from the donor boat and they put an automotive starter on it so I know I need to replace these, but I also noticed there is no fuel/water seperator.

I justed picked up a 1995 180 islander for $500 that needs engine and outdrive.....but everything else is there and in pretty good shape.....can't wait til spring!!
How do I figure out what gear ratio I need ....no engine or outdrive in project boat original engine was a 4.3lx which I plan on replacing with same thing....I think my gear ratio should be 1.81 but how do I figure this out for sure.

My latest project....1996 Baja 180 Islander...engine and outdrive where already gone when I got it.
I have figured out the outdrive was an Alpha I Gen II....plan on an aftermarket outdrive but need to know what gear ratio.
But my bigger dilemma is the engine....I need a complete turn key engine...
Boat currently has no engine or outdrive....bought it that way....checked numbers off Mercruiser transom assy and determined it was a gen II....does it have to be replaced with a Gen II or will a Gen I bolt up?
