Well i will go by the bible and looks like i am in specs... You can see the confusion. There's alot of different info on timing and what i posted was a reference to total timing. I am surprised that there is a 8 degrees difference in total timing from EST and points. But thank you all for your help.

What oil to run in 3.0 1984 engine. I think the manufacturer recommends thicker velocity oils. Wondering why? Like auto engines runs thinner velocity oils. Know this is like apples to oranges comparison. What do you run in your 3.0 and if you know why run a thicker velocity oil?
Took boat out today and turning key to on position tach was maxed out, engine not running. Started and warmed up and still maxed out. About two minutes underway tach started working properly and stayed that way for remaining of trip. Any ideas where to start looking for the cause.
