    engine will not shut off with key

    I have a 1974 85hp Evinrude that I just installed a new key switch for. All wires are connected according to the wiring diagram that came with the switch but the engine will not shut off when I turn the key to the off position. I have to choke the engine to shut it off. Any Ideas?

    I have a 1974 85hp Evinrude that does not seem to have a **** tube to tell if the water pump is working. I can not find anywhere on the block, heads or body of the lower cowan where one would be. Does any one know if this engine had one and if it did not, how I could tell if the water pump is...
