Hello,
I've been working on a restoration project for a while now. I've installed and glue the vinyl flooring and now I'm working on the carpet for the sides of the boat. My question is, where the vinyl and carpet meet, what can i do to make it more visually appealing? Is there some sort of...
I've got Vinyl flooring and I'm in the process of applying carpet on the sides of the boat. I've got about 2 inches of excess vinyl running up side walls, now my question is, how do I go about applying the carpet so it looks nice?
Simply leaving a straight edge, where the vinyl and floor meet...
Not sure if this is how its suppose to be done but what I want to do is make sure that absolutely no water gets into the hull by completely sealing the deck with fiberglass.
I want have the drain plug under the splash well just incase somehow water does get into the hull. And as for the water...
Will this composite be able to retain water? I plan on making the "water catcher" thingy at the back of the boat from these materials...good idea?
Thanks!
What are your thoughts and experiences with non skid marine vinyl flooring?
My local marine shop has a bunch of new boats on display and most of them were equipped with this non-skid floor, which at first I thought were painted.
But I just came back from another marine shop and they sell...
I'm slowly restoring my 77 mark twain and I've now came to tackle this...
A crack in the fiberglass where my engine is mounted. The transom we made was bigger than the old one and never realized that it would be to big for the cap (top half of the boat...not sure what its called)...
This morning I found air pockets around the edges...What do I do now and how do i prevent this from happening again?
Should I sand it down and fiberglass over it or inject it with resin
Here is the basic design of my stringers:
I've got 1.5 oz mats and as I was lying them down and cutting them to shape, i noticed that due to the long strands i was using, the mat were not lying flat in some sections and was worried that this may cause problems when glassing(bubbles?). Should...
Is it possible to transform car speakers into marine speakers? From what I understand, the only difference between the two is the "cone" which consists of different materials, cardboard or plastic.
I mounted my speakers underneath the dash and such so they should not have direct contact with...
I'm planning on wiring up a sound system that I tore out of a car but I have some doubts.
How am I suppose to protect everything from water damage without interfering with the sound quality?
Any advice at all?
Thanks
How does the weather affect glassing? What would you guys say is the best/worst time to glass outside. Does it matter if its out in the sun?
Heres the current temp for my area. I was thinking about tabbing my transom today. Good idea or bad?

Should water be able to get down into the hull where the stingers are? Or are we suppose to seal the floor down but applying fiberglass along the sides.
So lets say I do completely seal the floor, what would we have to do if water somehow to get inside the hull, how would we remove the water...
We just finish replacing the stingers and we're moving onto the floor but I have a few questions first.
We're thinking that instead of using carpet, spray some sort of nonslip paint or something similar onto the plywood.
1) What do you guys think about this idea? All the boats I've seen have...
