Update on this now that it is fixed. Big time flooding and dumping so much fuel that it was mixing with the oil in the oil pan. The biggest problem was the primary metering block was plugged. A rebuild kit and running the parts through an ultrasonic cleaner got that part taken care of. My other...
Update on my gauge problems. The speedo problem was the pitot tube on the stern. The tach needs to be replaced, nothing is making that thing accurate. The temp gauge was from a bad sending unit. The oil pressure gauge is reading accurate now. I had some of the male pins on the big round 10 pin...
I just finally figured out my carb issue and have found a bunch of fuel in my oil. It was up the dipstick about 2-3 inches. I have that oil/gas mix pumped out and fresh oil in it now. Just curious how many times should I pump and fill? And should I keep changing the oil filter each time...
Do you have this large round connector on the side of your engine? Mine was having some of the same issues and some of the male pins on this connector were smashed together so they were not making good contact in the female side of the plug. I opened them up slightly with a small flat...
It appears that it was the metering block that had plugged air bleeds. A few 30 minute passes through the ultrasonic cleaner with 50/50 Simple Green and water, and blowing it out with the air compressor did the trick. It idles now and no smoke. What a pain this has been. Thank you to all you...
I pulled the carb again and have ran it through an ultrasonic parts cleaner, blew out all the passages, made sure every orifice was clear, and now I am ready to try it again. My concern is that the last two times I pulled the spark plugs, cylinders 1, 3, and 5 were fouled with soot. The other...
That's how I'm setting the primary side. I think I'll close up the secondary side so it just idling from the primaries. I see a lot of V8 cars and trucks are setting the secondary transfer slots just like the primary side. I think that is my flooding problem. Thoughts?
Thank you sir. I figured out why my secondaries wouldn't close all the way. Got that fixed. Are the secondary transfer slots supposed to be exposed at idle, or just the primary transfer slots?
Here is the link with my serial number in it. I have tried it on my laptop and my phone. And on 3 different browsers. Weirdest thing I have seen in a while.
