i recently changed the impeller on my 73 johnson 115hp. the things runs great now but when i put in the water yesterday, it wouldnt go forward. it worked a little in reverse but not much at all. but nothing at all in forward. got it back home & put the ear muffs on it & put it in gear & the prop...
ive got a 1973 johnson 115. i cant figure out how to disconnect the shift shaft from the LU. i just dont see the retaining screw is. can anyone help me out here. ive got to replace the impeller.

the other day i posted a question under the title "alarm". i got great responses, but one of them said to remove the shift shaft. im new to outboard maintenance so im unsure of both where & how to do this.
