sounds simple but found the idle in the water is different than in the driveway and affects the shifting and startup. so which idle is recommended under load in water or the muffs in the drive?
after replacing the shift cable bellow on alpha gen 2 the motor cuts out when shifting into forward. there are two cables, upper n lower. they shift fine, no jamming. do i adjust the barrels, trail and error until interrupter works correctly or is there a magic formula?
mech replaced all my bellows and the new exhaust bellow is not attached to drive like the old one. the old one was accordian-like. the new one only connects when the drive is down. is there any possibility of water backwashing up exhaust with this type bellow?
foudn water and sludge (mixture of water and grease or oil) in the bellow. bellow appears in good conditin, clamps tight, U-joint in good condition...no pittting or rust). how would water get in there? what should i do next?
after draining oil and finding water, i pulled the lower unit off and resealed it. then pulled the upper unit off to assemble and found water and slush in U-J bellow. the bellow appears to be in good condition but wondering if i need to pull upper house bearings and reseal everything there too...
I left the business world to teach because of my passionate curiosity. learning about this boat is fascinating but at same time I hate working on it during boating season...and the wife doesn't share my curosity any season.
well i think there's a couple of problems here. the water pump housing...
never done this before so pls feed me all caveats. i understand bad seal cause leakage thru lower drain hole. now do i replace lower pump & impeller as well as gaskets? any other seals? do i need to go into the upper housing? '90 alpha 1 drive.
