    Resurfacing marine plywood decking

So, I decided to use CCA pressure treated plywood used for permanent foundations. I am also going to use the "old Timers Seal" on it to help with waterproofing. I cannot seem to find any adhesive manufacturer to state that their product will work on this plywood. The CCA is the old arsenic...

    Resurfacing marine plywood decking

Did you seal the CDX with anything as I've not seen any of it that is for long term water exposure? From what I have read all the new treated plywood is now treated with a copper chemical that reacts to the aluminum.

    Decided to replace the decking

After some thought and suggestions on here I have decided to go ahead and replace the decking on the pontoon I am replacing the carpeting on. This is a 1990 Playcraft that has rails in which the decking is sandwiched in between what appears to be an "E" shaped rail. The bottom is bolted to the...

I decided to do just that.

    1991 Playcraft pontoon restoration

FINALLY got the steering cable out from the steering tube. Scott was correct as it took a big hammer and a drift smacking it pretty hard to get it out. I had been spraying it down with PB Blaster for about three days and yesterday I got it out. Funny the cable didn't appear too bad or...

    Resurfacing marine plywood decking

The floor surface has checked and peeled up in areas, but after removing what was loose, the rest looks good. My thought was to epoxy over the surface and then carpet over it. I have already removed everything from the deck BUT seeing how the decking is fitted into the aluminum channel, will...

    Resurfacing marine plywood decking

Having to replace the carpeting on a 1990 pontoon that has it for quite a while. The surface of the decking is peeling up on a couple of sheets, BUT the floor is not week. Can this decking be resurfaced or should I just bite the bullet and replace the plywood? I'm really not wanting to...

    1991 Playcraft pontoon restoration

No need to cut the cable as I did get it out of the helm, so it is lying flat out from the tilt tube. I suspect the cable has the steering attachment as part of it and that entire thing has to be driven out of the tube? Been pounding it with a 3# maul and a block of native oak and so far can't...

    1991 Playcraft pontoon restoration

I removed the nut holding the steering cable into the tube on one side and the steering arm from the motor to it on the other side. Pulled it out about 4-5 inches and can't budge from there. I have sprayed WD40 and PB blaster into the tube around the cable but makes no difference. I've tapped...

    1991 Playcraft pontoon restoration

disconnected the steering cable from the motor BUT cannot get it out. The steering console was shot so I've removed the helm from it and it is sitting intact on the floor. I've pulled as much cable through the floor so I've got plenty of room at the motor end to pull the cable out BUT cannot...

    1991 Playcraft pontoon restoration

I am new to boats and have no clue of what it is. I'm going to see if I can post pictures for those much brighter than I am on these things. This is the front and back. Cable comes into the unit at the top and doesn't exit it as the unit is closed. I have more pics if needed. Thank you for...

    1991 Playcraft pontoon restoration

So you are saying that in order to get the steering cable out of the floor to replace the steering console, I have to remove it from the motor end and pull it out through the floor from the helm end?

    1991 Playcraft pontoon restoration

I still have to get the cable out of the steering box, which is my question. Removing the motor end isn't my problem.

    1991 Playcraft pontoon restoration

I recently bought this pontoon as a project and am in the process of removing everything from the deck so I can replace plywood and carpeting. All the furniture as well as the helm console were totally trashed but had the helm and the steering wheel that I got out of the console. How do I...
