    150hp XR-4 lower crank bearing replacement

    Can anyone give me any advice as to what is involved to replace the lower crank bearing on a 1988 150hp Mercury XR-4 outboard? Looks like a ball bearing on the bottom. Not sure if I need to split the engine cases or just remove the powerhead to replace it. Any advice would be appreciated.

    XR4 idle mixture adjustment for smoother idle?

    Anyone know if the carbs on a 1988 XR4 V-6 have any sort of adjustment for smoothing the idle on each carb? Motor starts good and runs like a son of a gun at wide open throttle but the idle doesn't seem smooth or sound right. Seems to be bucking as if missing at idle and just off idle. Maybe one...

    85 lower unit with preload fit 88 without

    I have a 1988 XR4 150hp with the small gearcase lower unit. I bought a 1985 lower unit from a 150hp with the large gearcase but it has the preload pin. Anyone know if it will work on my XR4, or if I need to remove the preload pin, or if it will not fit? Looks the same, and both are for 20"...
