I recently bought a used 17 foot boat called a vector with a 200 Suzuki outboard on it.
When I take it out it always wants to porpoise real bad. I've tried different trim settings, and it is better when trimmed in but it still does it and the boat slows down when trimmed it. Somebody told...
JB- I know you recommend 87 octane, but for those of you who own a merc inline 6, please use 93. These engines are prone to detonation, and running 87 risks burning a piston. This is especially true for the late seventies models.
Could you tell me the year of a Suzuki DT140 with the model number 14002 and serial number 913167. I would appreciate any help.
Thanks

Hunter
Every time I order parts for my suzuki they turn out wrong. It is an 83' model EL50 and it says cabrea on the cowling. I figure it's just like a DT50 but I know that the carbs are different and the impeller I just tried to put in is too small to go around the shaft. The # next to the model is...
I need to add a tachometer to a 83' suzuki 50. Will a 12 pole alternator tachometer work with this engine? Out of curiosity- what engines have wierd settings like 6 pole or 12 pole?
I have a question concerning dual setups. The advantages are somewhat obvious. However, I was wondering about the problems that come with dual motors. Does one motor have to rotate in the other direction? Is cavatation a bigger problem, and how is handling normally affected? Being new to...
I put a 83' Suzuki EL50 in the water for the first time today after getting the carbs rebuilt for me (it sat up for around 3 years). It seemed to run semi-normal except at part thottle it bog slightly then surge ahead. At full thottle it would run well but bog down on occasion. I was worried...
I am not familiar with meaning or concept about some of these engine operation terms. Like what does loop scavenged, cross scavenged, and cross flow mean and what is the difference between them. I would appreciate any educational thought from the engine scholars around here. Thanks.
I recently purchased a 78 Merc 900 6cyl that will need some care to return to service, therefore I need a good manual. I am kind of leery of Clymers since the one I bought for my 83 Suzuki EL50 only gave me one paragraph to adjust the floats and didn't even mention my model anywhere.
