Well went from no gas to plugs to now not having any spark.. All new electricals under fly wheel.. Regapped plugs, checked plug wire and coil connection and reseated coils..checked all connections.. adjusting points off highest part of cam which a lil...

Took flywheel to check spark plug wires and point gap again!!:eek: New coils have been rubbed by the flywheel. TO much torque or is it from lining up on boss mounts that appear to be worn down. Should I mount with flanges lined to the bottom of bosses?

Finally changed all the coils, condensers, points, plugs and wires.. Engine doesnt fire when pulled over.. Fired before I changed it out.. Set point gap according to manual.. checked all connections and fresh gas. Its a 18hp JOhnson 1963.. Is the front coil to the top cylinder... I turned the...

Coil to #2 was burned thru the size of a quarter on the bottom, it had arced on the armature plate and plug wire was shot at connection to coil...
well the saga has come to a end.. Hopefully once I get new coil, points and condensers. She fired but only running on one cylinder. Local Johnson dealer wants 30 a coil, so gonna order from online from liangs for 20 a pop.
Hopefully that will cure its ills.. couldnt really set carb on one...

What I have found out: the oil/gas mix is 24:1, plug gap.030 , plugs j4c ,
how to use seafoam.
What I want to learn: Rough idle or no idling-will seafoam help with this?
Lower unit lube suggested?
