I've got a 1966 Evinrude 9.5 HP which I bought used. Runs pretty well. I had it out a couple of weeks ago and had no issues. Had it out again yesterday with a heavier load in the boat; after running about for a bit at full throttle the prop thrust pratically disappeared and engine rev'ed up...
I've inherited a Mariner 90 HP, with little documentation. I'm struggling to make out the serial number on the tag. Is there a format? Should I be looking for alpha-numeric, or just numeric sequence? Or there other locations where the serial number is located besided the label on the...
I'm rebuilding the carb on a '85 9.9 Johnson. The kit came with a couple packing plugs. I'm not sure which ones I need to pay attention to. The hi-speed orifice is sealed with one. I think I need to remove that one and clean the hi-speed orifice as it looks to be pretty gummed up. How do I...
I need to replace the CAM, throttle control on my '85 Johnson 9.9 hp. It looks like it simply snaps underneath, into the retainer & link assemble of the flywheel. Does anyone know if the flywheel needs to be removed in order to replace this?
The flywheel on my '85 Johnson 9.9hp won't turn. Let's assume for the moment that the engine is not seized since it was turning for me a couple of weeks ago. I might have tried turning it while not in neutral. It's now in neutral, prop turns freely, however flywheel is locked-up.
I probably should left my Johnson 9.5 Hp outboard on the boat. But I didn't and put it in my garage, on the floor. So it sat under almost 4' of Jersey Shore bay water for who knows how long. What should I do as far as reviving it? I haven't tried starting it yet.
I'll be attempting to start-up a 1985 Johnson 9.9 HP , as soon as I get the fuel tank and line. I'm also waiting for a re-print of the owners manual to arrive any day now. I don't know when the last time this engine was started, well over a year at the least. Is there anything I should check...
I need to get a new fuel line with a female connector that will fit the existing male connector on a 1985 9.9 HP Johnson. I don't know if the newer ones are suitable.

I've inherited a Johnson 1985 10 HP outboard. Haven't tried starting it yet because I'm missing the fuel-line. I did get a user guide with it, but it's in the European languages. I'm having difficulty finding it in English. Would the Seloc Repair manual, available here, be a good alternative?
