    Gimble Bearing

A light scuff with sandpaper on each surface wouldn't hurt if you're easy and not changing tolerances.

    Volvo Outdrive I.D.

We just pulled the drive this afternoon. The shaft slid out with ease and was greasy. The ujoints move smoothly and freely in all directions. One thing I'm stumped by is the water pickup hose doesnt have a clamp on the transom side. It almost appears the hose runs through the transom. Should...

3.0L alpha one nearly new runs unsmooth

That would be my first check after experiencing this issue on several pieces of equipment over the years, bad vent symptoms are usually timed about the same each run. A slow fuel pump or half plugged fuel filter can act similar. Once the float bowl empties out it can't keep up.

I watched a youtube video a couple weeks ago on taking the gearbox off and changing bellows. The guy was very thorough.

    Volvo Outdrive I.D.

Thank you, Gentlemen, for all of the information. You have given me valuabke information and a good general guide on what to look for. I was not aware of these bearings. If we get the time, we'll pull the OD over the weekend. Hopefully they're both in good shape. If not, so be it, guess we'll...

    Volvo Outdrive I.D.

Thanks Guys. Glad you said 290. Just from looking at pics and such, that was about all I came up with. I did watch some videos on the bellows procedure. The the driveshaft bellows is wide open along the bottom. Pretty sure someone ran it in the trailering position. Being wide open its not...

    Volvo Outdrive I.D.

Hey all, My son purchased this boat for cheap in non-running circumstances. 1989 24.5' Sportcraft WAC. So far we replaced one freezeplug. It fires right up and runs smooth. I've never felt a boat shift so smooth. It has a 5.7 according to the PO. I believe that. The valve covers are aftermarket...

    96' Islander Rivet Problem

Found a deal I could not pass up. I have wanted an Islander for quite some time. Well, my son found this one on facebook of all places. The price was right. It came with electric riggers, big water tackle, spools of leadcore including 4 linecounter rod reel combos and 2 Penn downrigger combos. I...

    Home Brew Rust Killer

I watched these videos and thought they may have something for those looking to paint rusty trailers on a budget. Its the first I have seen this method used and it does appear to effectively kill rust to the core. First video is the application and the results are displayed mid-way through the...

Thought some of you tin guys might like this video. The aluminum chips floating around while rivets the chine looks a little sketchy. <iframe width="854" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/dMisKpcbmVI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> MOD EDIT - Fixed your link.

Are all exterior plywood glues created equal?

I,ve been looking for some actual 3/4" ply for a transom. My local Hdepot doesn't have anything that isn't 23/32 except for interior grade. I did find marine grade made by Jonesburg in 3/4 at Menards the next city over. The subject of which plywood to use for boats has been discussed mant times...

    76 Evinrude Water Flow?

This is the first Evinrude I've owned, just picked it up yesterday. Cleaned it up today, pulled the tank then reinstalled and added new fuel with amsoil. To my surprise it fired right up and ran well. I did find a fast drip of water off the lower cylinder head, fortunately it was only a water...
