    9.5 Johnson has wake but don't go

    I have a 1968 9.5 Johnson, it locks into gear good, it runs out good, the problem is that when going wide open it throws a large wake and churns up the water but dosn't seem to push the boat along very well. The boat is a small 14' flat bottom so weight isn't a factor, Could it be the prop?

    Anyone know the torque spec. for the flywheel nut on a 74 Evinrude 25hp.

    9.5 Johnson year?

    I have a 9.5 Johnson I think it's about a 66. The model number is missing and the S/N J 04120, don't look write to me. There is a number J3402126 stamped on top of the motor. Anyone have an idea of the year?

    25 evinrude backfires

    My 1974 25hp. Evinrude backfires when I try to start it. When I do get it started it backfires and stalls out. I put new plugs in it and played around with the idle mixture but couldn't fix the problem. Does anyone have a idea what could be wrong?

    I picked up this old 25hp. Evenrud and not sure the year, I think it's a 76. Mod# 25402M and S/N E0007652.
