Installing Holley Spreadbore where Quadrajet was.... Throttle bracket help.

Just bought a new Holley 4175 because I was tired of dealing with my quadrajet... I thought this would be a drop-in application, but you know how that goes.... First, it looks like I need at least a 1" spacer because the front fuel inlet hits the water neck. Also, the existing fuel line is not...

"Throttle Only" button hard to push. Quicksilver. 1985 Sea Ray.

As the title says, it's hard to push the throttle only button on my quicksilver remote.... I have to smash it with the palm of my hand, and it doesn't always depress even with that brute assault. Is this repairable? I have popped the button off and shot WD-40 behind it, but no improvement...

    Quadrajet question

I have been trying to tune my rebuilt 5.7... still only maxing out at 4100rpm according to the tach, and cold starting is not easy. Bought a rebuilt carb while I was at it too. Idle is around 900rpm. Carb seems to like its idle mixture screws about 5 turns out. If I try to lower the idle...

Rebuilt Quadrajet... too lean at idle?

Replaced a quadrajet with a rebuilt one from a supposedly reputable carb rebuilder. I cannot get this thing to idle. When I put my hand over the airhorn, it seems happier, so I'm thinking lean? Sometimes when it dies, it will sometimes whistle for a few seconds from the carb. If there's an...

    Wavering Idle when Hot

Newly rebuilt longblock 5.7, alpha one in 21ft Sea Ray, Rochester 4bbl - manifold choke. New plugs, wires, cap & rotor. Coil "looks" ok, i.e. not leaking. Engine will have a hard time starting in idle, but will start if you throttle it and then back off... I'm thinking idle jets are...

Rochester Carb Vent... Can you fill bowl through there?

Is there any reason why you could not fill the bowl of a Rochester 4bbl through the float vents? I'm thinking this might be a way to get some concentrated Sea Foam into the carb to attempt to clean out a clogged idle jet. I'm just trying to think of a way to clean things before resorting to...

    Trouble in the Water

85 Sea Ray, 350, Alpha 1... New to me. Ran fine on muffs. Put it in the water, started fine and then died after 15 seconds. Very hard to start after that, wouldn't stay running. Pulled it out, ran fine on muffs. Went back to the lake, same problem. When I pulled it out and brought it home...

    Quick Outdrive Winterizing Question

This is my first year with a motorboat.... 5.7 Merc, Alpha one. Seeing that the glorious Chicago weather is going to be at freezing temps for the next week, I had to rewinterize, so I drained the risers, block, and water pump outlet in accordance with the sticky. I lowered the outdrive to full...

1985 5.7 Merc Starter - Help finding one

Can someone point me to a site or a part number for a marine starter for a 1985 GM small block 350 in a Sea Ray 210 with an Alpha One? It seems that at some point the starter design changed, but the various vendors are all over the board as to when that was. Thanks guys
