My old post was getting too long, so here is a new one with a specific question. Thanks for all the advice, I'm working on your getting them all done.
The saga continues...poor starting that is.
One thing I have noticed is that every time I unthread the anti-siphon valve from the tank...
My engine is a 4.3LX Mercruiser installed in a 1995 Regal.
Engine Serial number is OF421280.
I'm trying to buy an online fuel pump. Iboats is out of stock, but found another supplier. Local dealer price is almost 2X the online price, and has to be ordered in, that's why I'm wanting to buy...
1995 4.3LX-Mercruiser, Serial OF421280, Weber 4-bbl
Starts fine, 1st or 2nd crank after winter lay-up.
Then, starts poorly during the season, regardless of the weather...
Have done the following:
-Replaced plugs, rotor and cap (no visual issues)
-Replaced anti-siphon and hose to electric fuel...
Is there such a thing, and where would I order one? I've heard they are cheap "emergency" props to get you back to shore. My boat is a 4.3L Mercuiser (1995), so fairly common. To get the exact prop info, I'll have to dig a bit deeper.
Thanks
4.3LX Mercruiser, 1995
How easy (or not) is it to remove the Rotor and Wheel, since I understand that they are secured to the distributor shaft with Loctite? The procedure is in Mercruiser 18, Page 4B5
PS: Parts supplier (marine shop) said not to bother with the Loctite
Thanks,

1995 Regal. 4.3LX Mercruiser, Weber WFB 4-bbl. Diaphragm activated, Non-electric Choke.
Problem just started last week. The engine will not start until you manually close the choke plate. Then it starts immediately...starting is not supposed to be a 2-person job!!
I'm novice, but have checked...

Engine Serial OF421280
I had a rebuilt engine installed two years ago, not sure if the "problem" I will describe existed before that (old engine hydralocked twice)
"Problem" (I think)
While running on muffs, I have good water flow out the exhaust at the stern drive...

Engine Serial OF 421280
Stern Drive Serial DF 457691
After not running for 4-5 days, this boat is a bear to start. Often takes 15 or more cranks, 10 seconds each. Three different mechanics have diagnosed the issue as "fuel boiling out of...

Last time out, when shifting from forward to neutral, the shifter disengaged OK, but the drive stayed in forward- fortunately low speed. I had to drop the shifter back, partly into...
My single axle trailer (towing 20 ft Regal, 1995) has radial tires (ST-205-75R14) and a Bias ply spare. I'm not the original owner, so I don't know how I got this combination...presumably someone bought new radials at some point.
Lucky for me, the starboard tire "disintegrated" just as I was...
The packaging for aftermarket "fins" says that it will solve "porpoising" (bow lift), and that "fins" provide faster planing to benefit skiers and tubers. My 1995 Regal (4.3Merc, Alpha 1) has those problems. I make sure that I distribute the weight of my passengers to help the cause, but until...
1995, 4.3 Mercruiser LX, Serial # OF421280
Idle is 1200 RPM on muffs. Owner's Manual says idle should be 650-700 RPM IN GEAR.
On muffs, I have tried to set the idle back using the adjusting screwl. What I noticed is that there seems to be "play" in the linkage. (Throttle cable seems OK, but...
Newby, but here goes.
Original engine ran at approx. 145 degF on dashboard temp gauge.
2006- New short block installed due to major issues.
Temp now ran at about 100 degF on the temp gauge, and the water coming out of the drive was about that temp. Engine prone to stalling when placed in...
